By becoming a member of Semiahmoo House Society, you confirm the community’s ownership of the organization, demonstrate your commitment to fostering an inclusive community, and contribute to the achievement of the organization’s mission. These include:
- People who have disabilities are valued and included fully in their communities, with the same rights and responsibilities as all Canadians;
- People have the right to control their own lives through personal choices about relationships, jobs, living arrangements, spirituality, travelling, and recreational activities;
- People have the right to give back to their communities through volunteering and helping others; and
- Everyone is entitled to live a happy, full, and meaningful life.
Together we’re stronger. The more our membership grows, the more our credibility increases, resulting in more influence to shift attitudes that still prevail about the full inclusion of people with disabilities in our society. As we embark on important initiatives, such as persuading employers to hire people with disabilities and developing an inclusive and affordable apartment building, we need you by our side. Please join us in numbers.
By confirming your ownership through membership, not only do you demonstrate that you care about the full inclusion of people with disabilities in our community, you also receive voting rights at Semiahmoo House Society’s Annual General Meeting.
